Introduction of Scenic Spots

Monument
to May 30.
Constructed in 1950. On the north side
of classroom Building No.3. Surrounded by pine and cypress, the Monument to May
30,together with tombs of revolutionary Martyrs Shi & Mu and the relief Sculpture of
heroes and martyrs forms a unique scenic sport which encourages people of the whole school
to follow the glorious tradition of revolutionary martyrs and strive for the prosperity of
our country. It serves as a major component part of base of education in patriotism in
Shanghai Jiao Tong University. |

"Think of Its Source while Drinking water"
Constructed in 1979. In front of the first
dormitory. The scenic spot is composed of spring and formative landscape with coral trees
as its background creating a warm and graceful atmosphere. The scenic spot fully expresses
the profound appreciation of the people of Shanghai Jiao Tong University to their
motherschool for her cultivation and nourishment. |

Marble Statue |

| Constructed
in March 1985. |
| In
front of Bao Zhaolong library. It is composed of a spring and the image of two
female students carved with white marble statue indicating that the students gain wisdom
and grow up steadily. |

"Progress
with the Sun" |
Constructed in 1925 and reconstructed in 1988
by alumni of grade 1983 on the 50th anniversary of their graduation to encourage teachers
and students of shanghai Jiao Tong University to progress with the sun. |
| Sculpture of Female student. |

| Constructed in September 1986. In front of the old library the
oldest building in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. It indicates that the students
will study hard for the prosperity of the motherland. |

Milestone for 100-Year
Anniversary of the Founding
of S.J.T.U. |
| Constructed
in April 1996. In the Center of the ground grass-plot. The upper front side is the
Chinese. Inscription written by Mr. Jiang Zemin,alumnus of S.J.T.U. and Chairman of the
people's Republic of China, The
Inscription says ^Carry on
the past and open a way for future; Scale the highest of science; build S.J.T.U. and make
it a first-rate school. ̄On
the red granite are annals of the anniversary and a list of donators. |

Constructed in October 1995. In front of the clinic. With white
marble as its main body and granite as its base the whole structure takes the form of a
ship sailing forward. The Metto ^Think of its source while drinking water; Love your country and do your
university credit ̄is
inscribed on it. |

Constructed in March 1996. On the south side of
the old library.Donated by alumni of grade 1937.
