Digital high-definition television prototype

In 1998, the successful trial broadcast through the "digital high-definition television prototype" made China the 4th country mastering this technology in the world.

This research was carried out by a group headed by Professor ZHANG Wenjun from the School of Electronics and Electric Engineering ( formerly known as the School of Electronics and Information Technology ). This is a key sci-tech industrial engineering project of the country and it was reported as one of the top 10 Scientific and Technological News Stories in 1998. A live broadcast through this system was also successful on the occasion of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China in that same year.

It was awarded the outstanding achievement of the national 9th Five-Year Plan's key research project. Professor ZHANG Wenjun won the coveted honor of being nominated the distinguished figure in the academic community in Shanghai for the year 2001.
