Theoretical Physics:
Professor Hongru Ma, Ph. D. Nanjing University
Research interest:
Computational condensed matter physics. Using the full power of modern computers, we will
simulate the structure, shape , dynamics and various physical properties of
electrorheological, magnetorheological as well as electromagnetorheological fluids,
biological membranes, polymers, suspensions, microemulsions and other soft condensed
matter by means of Monte Carlo, molecular dynamics and different first principle methods.
Our goal is to deep the understanding of the soft condensed matter and find general and
unified description of these complex systems.

Theoretical and experimental study of inner shell processes in atomic collision, atomic
spectroscopy, lifetime of atomic energy level, configuration interaction, and interaction

Professor You Junhan, Director of Institute for Space and Astrophysics,
Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Director of Chinese Astronomy Society; Vice-director of
Committee of High Energy Astrophysics of Chinese Astronomy Society.
Main research directions.
A.Radiation theory in astrophysics ,involving all waveband from radio to gamma ray;The
tomic and molecular processes in astrophysics,including the collisional excitation of
atoms and/or molecules in interstellar medium,ionization and recombination,formation and
dessociation of molecules,the heating and radiative cooling of asrtrophysical plasmas,the
formation and catalysis ofinterstellar dust ,etc.
B.High energy astrophysics(X-ray and gamma ray astronomy ).Investigated Objects: Quasars
and other active galactic nuclei,pulsars,neutron stars and black holes,supernovae and
supernova remnants.etc.
C.Procession and analysis of the observation data from the X-ray astronomical satellites.

Professor Zheng Hang, Ph.D of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Director of

Research field:
Strongly-correlated system and the non-adiabatic electron-phonon interaction.It includes:
Inorganic and organic quasi-low-dimensional materials with a charge density or spin
density-wave ground state,their stability against the quantum and thermal lattice
fluctuations,and their optic and electric properties.
The mechanism of high temperature superconductors and the role played by the
electron-phonon interaction.
The coupled magnetic, charge and lattice degrees of freedom in manganites, effect of the
electron-and/or spin-phonon coupling on the colossal magnetoresistance and other physical
properties.
Professor Sun Hong, Ph.D of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Recent research directions:
Recent research are mainly in the numerical investigations of the electron and exiton
energy band structures, optical properties as well as the respondence in external fields
of the low dimensional electronic systems and nano-semiconductor materials, especially the
systems with non-planar interfaces or with special geometric structures. The research
results will provide theoretical guide directions for using the low dimensional electronic
systems and nano-semiconductor materials to design new microelectronic devices. The
research projects are supported by the National Natural Science Foundationg of China.

Professor Jiang-Fei Jiang
Research Subject:
The Nanoelectronics and the Superconductive electronics.
Reasearch Sub-subject of the nanoelectronics are the device physics, the device models,
the analysis and simulation of the devices and circuits, the nanofablication technology of
the devices and circuits.
Research Sub-suject of the Superconductive electronics are the models, simulation and
dynamics of the superconducting field effect devices and circuits.
Professor Zhang Jiliang Received the M.S. degree in Shanghai Jiao Tong
University in 1983.
Research field:
Micro sensors and actuators, Micro-opto-electro-mechanical systems(MOEMS),
Microfabrication, Thin film heads(including MR heads), Sputtering, Reactive ion
etching(RIE).
Prof. XIE Shengwu, whose main research fields are laser technology and
nonlinear optics. In early 1960s, he has involved in researches of laser with sphere
cavity and propagation characters of laser in water. In 1970s, he has created a
underwater laser television systems, and done researches in techniques for processing many
surfaces for glass; color-center lasers and Ti: doped sapphire lasers. Since 1980s,
his research field has focused on the optimum phase matching for three wave interactions
in biaxial crystals and high efficient optical parametric oscillators (OPO). In 1990s,
he extended his field in the optimum phase matching for four wave interactions in biaxial
crystals, where he has done a lot of work in the measurement of the third-order nonlinear
optical (NLO) coefficients. In addition, he has performed fundamental researches on
organic NLO optoelectronic devices recently.
Professor Chen Yingli Graduated from Department of East China Nomal
University in 1958.
Research field:
Laser physics and laser technology, Nonlinear optics and Guided-wave theory and devices.He
is now working in the field of nonlinear optical phenomena in crystals, polymers and
fibers.
Professor Li Qu Received the B.S. degree in Fudan University in 1962 and
the M.S. degree in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1981.
Research field:
Fundamental optics, nonlinear optics and guided-wave optics. He is now active in the field
of nonlinear phenomena in optical fibers and nonlinear properties of polymer waveguides.
Professor Cao Zhuangqi Received the M.S. degree in applied physics from
Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1982.
Research field:
Dielectric optical waveguide theory, organic polymer photoelectric devices, surface plasma
waves and nonlinear optical effects in optical waveguides.
Professor Xia Yuxin Graduated from University of Science and Technology
of China in 1964.
Research field:
There are three studying programme as following,in optucal physics before 1996: (1)Laser
physicsexploring new excime laser system. (2)Laser spectroscopyHigh resolution
and exciting spectroscopy of atom and molecule. (3)Nonlinear opticsnonlinear optical
property of C60 solution.
There are three stufying programme as following in optoelectronics and photonics from 1996
up to now: (1)KTP waveguides modulator. (2)SSD technique (Technique smoothing of spectra
dispersion). (3)Double frequence of diode laser in waveguides using quasiphase matching.
Professor Shi Chang-Xin Received the B.E. degree and M.E.degree from
Tsing Hua University in 1962 and 1966.
